MCPS to Provide Breakfast and Lunch Meals Through the Summer

MCPS announced today that beginning July 6, 2020, MCPS will provide breakfast and lunch meals to all Montgomery County children and all MCPS students (regardless of age) at nearly 100 sites across the county. Meals will be provided from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at school sites and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at bus distribution sites.

At this time, MCPS has not received a waiver from the federal government to provide dinner meals. If a waiver is approved, the district will add dinner meals to the distribution.

Schedule

Meals will be provided four days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesdays, MCPS will provide two days’ worth of meals. On Thursdays, all meal sites will be closed. This schedule helps to ensure student and staff safety, and to reduce opportunities for the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Community Partners and County Resources

MCPS will continue to partner with Manna Food Center and Women Who Care Ministries to provide weekend meals to families over the summer months. Details on distribution times and locations will be posted on the MCPS Meals Service web page. Additionally, families are encouraged to visit Montgomery County's COVID-19 Food Resources Page for additional resources.
